TARS Privacy Policy

Effective date: [release date]

Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Who we are

TARS ("the app") is operated by I12Y LTD, [registered address] ("we", "us"). For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, I12Y LTD is the data controller for any personal data processed by the app.

2. The short version

TARS is built so that we know as little about you as possible.

3. Data we process and why

3.1 On your device only

3.2 Sent to our servers (TARS+ briefings only)

To write and voice a TARS+ briefing we send to our server: the current date, the titles and times of today's (or, for the evening debrief, tomorrow's) calendar events and reminders (if you enabled those sources), your approximate location rounded to about a kilometre (if you enabled weather), the voice and the order of sections you selected, your butler's name and the form of address you chose — including your first name if you chose "By my name". Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — this is the service you subscribed to.

3.3 Subscriptions

Payments are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Our subscription infrastructure (RevenueCat) receives an anonymous, app-generated identifier and your subscription status so the app knows whether TARS+ is active. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other identity — we do not have those.

3.4 Weather

If you enable weather, the app requests your forecast directly from Open-Meteo using the rounded coordinate. As with any internet request, the provider technically receives your IP address.

3.5 Anonymous product analytics

To understand whether TARS works — whether people finish setup, whether the alarm leads to a briefing, where the app fails — we send anonymous usage events to Amplitude, our analytics provider: app opens, setup steps viewed, alarm set or not (and whether alarm permission was granted), briefing started and finished, paywall shown and purchase outcome, plus device model, OS and app version, language and country. Events carry a random identifier generated by the app on your device — not the advertising identifier, not the vendor identifier, not your name or email. Event data never includes calendar entries, reminder text, your location, or the content of your briefing. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can stop analytics at any time in Settings → About → Anonymous analytics; the identifier is reset when you reinstall the app.

4. Data we do NOT collect

No email, no contacts, no photos, no health data, no precise location or location history, no advertising identifier, no cross-app or cross-site tracking. The app contains no advertising or tracking frameworks and shares nothing with data brokers.

5. Third parties (complete list)

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone else. We add nothing to this list without updating this policy.

6. International transfers

Our servers and the providers above may process data in the United States and the European Union. Transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards provided by each processor.

7. Retention

8. Your rights

Under GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In practice: almost everything lives on your device, where you already have full control — deleting the app deletes it. For anything server-side or analytics-related, contact support@tarsalarm.space and we will resolve it within 30 days.

9. Automated decision-making

Your briefing text is composed by an AI model from the inputs described above. It produces a spoken summary of your day; it makes no decisions about you and has no legal or similar effect on you.

10. Children

TARS is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly process children's data.

11. Security

Server communication is encrypted in transit (TLS). API keys never ship inside the app. Server-side data is minimised by design and short-lived (see 7).

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means acceptance.

13. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of [jurisdiction of I12Y LTD].
